For Henry County, The Future Is So Bright It's Gotta Wear Shades

Luxottica Group, the maker of Ray Bans, announced it will create 1,000 new jobs in Henry County.

Luxottica Group, the umbrella company for Ray Bans and other famous eyewear brands, recently announced it would create 1,000 jobs in Henry County by expanding its North American distribution facility.

The expansion is centered on the new lens service model the company will employ, in which the lenses and frames are assembled and distributed from a single location.

“Luxottica has been part of the Atlanta community for 20 years and this is a particularly exciting time for us,” said Fabrizio Uguzzoni, president of Luxottica Wholesale N.A. “Growing our footprint here represents a new step in serving our wholesale customers – we will soon be able to produce and deliver a complete pair of prescription frames of the highest quality and perfect fit anywhere in the U.S. within 24 to 48 hours. We’re proud to be a global company innovating right here in Atlanta.”

This means it will take two days or less for Georgians (and Americans) to rock sunglasses at night. This is cause for celebration.

The 1,000 new jobs at the new Georgia facility will include positions in administration, production, and distribution.

Luxottica Groups’ general careers page is your first point of contact for these careers, and interested applicants should be sure to check out the company’s operations postings regularly for newly-posted positions.

To celebrate the announcement we should all take a page out ZZ Top’s playbook

“Now go out and get yourself some big black frames.

With the glass so dark they won't even know your name.”

Just know that these glasses won’t be as cheap as the Texas rockers liked to wear, but they will be assembled in Georgia, and that’s pretty sweet.
