Using curriculum materials based on the forthcoming series "Slavery by Another Name," learn best practices for using storytelling including digital-based, as an effective teaching tool in the classroom.
In addition to screening clips from the film, take part in a discussion with Susan Tuggle Burnore, the great granddaughter of a plantation owner who practiced forced labor and Tonya Groomes, a descendant of Green Cottenham, a young man who was forced into labor. The discussion will be moderated by Doug Blackmon the author of Slavery by Another, the Pulitzer Prize winning book the documentary is based on.
All volunteers receive training, free parking and a catered meal provided by Carole Parks Catering.
